Nokia restructuring plans mean that 4,000 jobs are set to go from operations in Europe and North America. This follows on from existing cuts that saw 10,000 employees leaving the company and Nokia's exit from Romania where it then became embroiled in a tax dispute with the Romanian government. The job losses mean that Nokia will no longer be producing any of its phones in Europe or North America. The facilities will be maintained though for what Nokia is calling 'high value activities', which most likely means research and development. Nokia's factory in Brazil, located in Manaus is to remain functioning as it has been whilst the factories in Salo, Reynosa and Komarom will be used for the software part of production e.g. installing network specific features. The actual hardware assembly of products will now take place in Nokia's Beijing and South Korean factories. <br/><br/>
